Tarangire National Park

 About the Tarangire National Park

The Tarangire National Park is found in the Manyara Region of Tanzania and is the 6th biggest Tanzanian Safari Park and covers approximately 1100 square miles. The Landscape is made up of granite ridges, river valleys, termite mounds and swamps where the Tarangire National Parks wildlife congregate during the annual dry season. Due to the fresh water the Tarangire ecosystem is thriving and the seasonally flooded grasslands are the perfect location for Acacia Woodland and the famous Baobab Trees. The National Park gets its name from the Tarangire River that crosses through the park and supports the amazing variety of wildlife.

Most of our northern safari tours start in the Tarangire National Park due to its close proximity to Arusha, which is where the closest international airport is located. Due to the fact that Arusha is almost always the start point of safari tours, the the Tarangire is a busy and popular destination to view wildlife on the way to the biggest northern safari national parks (the Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater). There is however fantastic diversity in the park- from the big 5 roaming the acrid lands to the hippos bathing in Lake Manyara. The Tarangire is a fantastic place to start, and or end your safari adventure,
