Travel Insurance & Safety Advice

Your safety and peace of mind are our top priorities at Tanzania Safari Club. Going on a safari is an incredible adventure, but it’s important to be prepared. Please read this guide carefully before you travel.

1. Travel Insurance – Why It’s Mandatory

We require all clients to have comprehensive travel insurance before joining any safari package. Insurance is essential because it covers:

  • Medical emergencies – hospitalisation, treatment, or air evacuations in remote areas

  • Trip cancellations or interruptions – in case of illness, flight delays, or unforeseen events

  • Lost or stolen belongings – luggage, passports, or personal items

  • Adventure activities – certain safari experiences, walking safaris, or boat transfers

Please note: Lack of insurance does not waive cancellation fees or other booking obligations.

2. Health Precautions

Your health is your responsibility, but being informed will help you enjoy your safari safely. We recommend:

  • Visiting your doctor or travel clinic at least 6–8 weeks before travel

  • Taking any required vaccinations, including yellow fever if required for entry

  • Considering malaria prophylaxis and other preventative medications

  • Bring personal prescription medication, as some drugs may not be available locally

  • Carrying a basic first aid kit for minor issues

If you have any allergies, chronic conditions, or dietary requirements, let us know when booking and again upon check-in.

3. Travel Safety Tips

  • Always follow your guide’s instructions and park regulations

  • Keep a safe distance from wildlife; animals in national parks roam freely

  • Supervise children at all times

  • Be aware of local road conditions, especially on dirt tracks or during rainy seasons

  • Avoid tap water for drinking; bottled water is widely available

4. Travel Risks

While Tanzania is a safe and welcoming country, it’s important to understand potential risks:

  • Natural hazards – uneven terrain, wildlife encounters, extreme weather

  • Health risks – tropical diseases, sun exposure, dehydration

  • Travel disruptions – flight delays, park closures, or unexpected events

By booking with Tanzania Safari Club, you acknowledge that while we take every reasonable step to ensure safety, participation in safaris is at your own risk.

5. Emergency Contact

In case of emergency while on safari, your guide and lodge management are trained to assist. Make sure your insurance provider’s emergency contacts are easily accessible.
